Arteries

Post by natttt

Arteries are blood vessels which carry blood away from the heart. All of which, with the exception of the pulmonary artery, carry oxygenated blood. The most widely known artery within the human body is the Aorta.

The blood leaves the heart by an artery of large diameter (approximately 3 centimetres), called the aorta, and then passes to the smaller arteries. The blood pressure increases in the small arteries.

Examples of arteries:

Abdominal aorta
Anterior cerebral artery
Anterior communicating artery
Anterior tibial artery
Axillary artery
Basilar artery
Brachial artery
Brachiocephalic artery
Common carotid artery
