Filipino proverbs or "Salawikain" echoes the Filipino values, even though they have been retold and passed from one generation to another, the values and the lessons they impart to us still holds truth to these days.

* Mahirap gisingin ang nagtutulog-tulugan. - - - It is hard to wake up someone who is pretending to be asleep .
* Kung pukulin ka ng bato, tinapay ang iganti mo. - - - If someone throws stones at you, throw back bread.
